Real or Photoshop?
If real it looks cool.....Using a peep-hole sort of approach to reveal second desktop? Orriginal.Hopefully it isn't photoshop, But I wouldn't be surprised if it was....--Jon Z
Looks pretty real, good fake if it is one. The "Windows:" box does hint at better compatability with Windows and probably some sort of parallels or boot camp setup out of the box. Looking forward to seeing more.
probably fake ... who the hell is this guy to get exclusive shots of leopard that no one else has?
That browser is Internet Explorer, with the IE 7 (WINDOWS ONLY) icon in the dock. Is this a Windows app running natively in OS X??
Notice how the dock does not get distorted in the second one...
post some more, and THEN we will believe you
Likely fake. Microsoft stopped updating IE at version 5.2.3, and I do not see any reason for them to change their minds; Safari and Firefox easily make up the majority use of internet browsers on Apple computers.
Wouldn't it say 10.5.0 if it was real? I could be wrong, but whats the default behavior of Tiger? I know that when installing patches, it says 10.4.X. Did it do that when it was 10.4.0 ? Might be worth finding out if it did. If it did, the behavior is a bit close to realistic to call it a fake I guess. Anyone notice the bootcamp symbol in the top right hand corner? If the screenshots go missing overnight, then I guess we know..
IF real, looks like Address Book and iCal are getting merged. As for the dock not getting distorted...why should it?! you're changing the desktop...the dock can stay the same...unless each desktop is a separate instance of OS X.
Notice also:1. Tabbed finder windows - fantastic idea!2. New Address Book icon suggests a merger of Address Book and iCal
As microsoft has officially ended the development of IE for mac, then the IE in the background with new interface can only be IE 7 for Windows, which means .....OMG!!!! Windows apps running natively on Leopard......i do like the peep-hole idea, really original and cool!
Uh, I think the point is that that's supposedly *Windows* IE running natively on a Mac. Notice the Windows version info in the "About This Mac" Window.Would be cool if real...
This ones is very convicent.I also noticed that there`s an icon up there near the clock that looks like the Microsoft OneCare icon. that one with the number 1 inside a circle.
My friend Sean calls this the "Goatse Switcher" animation.I like it. I think that's what we will name it.
First I was ready to call fake... but this looks oddly real. That is IE7 for Windows and there are just enough small touches to make me think this might be legit.I am quivering with antici - paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-tion

i don't think this is real but a very good photoshop and i hope that these features will be implemented in 10.5and look at this blog, it's on blogspot and it only has one postand the previous comment was edited, it might have something in it
You are too naive. This is what MS posts at their website:"In June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no further development, and support would cease in 2005. In accordance with published support lifecycle policies, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and is not providing any further security or performance updates.Accordingly, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac is no longer available for download from Microsoft. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple's Safari."What? MS asks you to use Safari? The IE logo tells the whole story.
Is that @ icon in the dock a single combo app replacement for address book and ical/calendar? nice.

Who hasn't heard the rumors about leopard running windows apps natively? How you have the right to call anyone naive i do not know.Oh and the deleted comments aren't necessarily deleted by the author of the blog, you can delete your own comments (like i did above, because i screwed up)
So you really think that somehow Apple is going to support Windows apps in Leapard??? I'll believe it when i actually see some REAL / Official screenies!
i'm currently running parallels on my macbook pro (http://parallels.com/), and it works incredibly well -- i'm running IE6 and safari next to each other as i write this (i much prefer safari, but i build web apps and it's great to be able to debug for multiple browsers --and multiple platforms! -- on the same machine).so the technology already exists. maybe apple is doing something similar for 10.5, or maye they're going to buy parallels.
Well, if it's fake, it's really will made. Like the ical and address book merge. Tabbed Finder. Windows in About This Mac. The Bootcamp icon on menu bar. The virtual desktop (number) icon on menu bar. The revealing effect of another desktop. And no one seems to notice this: On the Finder (in the desktop that is being revealed) there's a tab next to SDKs, called CoreWindows! Maybe this is the SDK for running Windows apps natively?Real or not, this is certainly well made!
Notice how the IE7 window has no shadow on the right hand side? ;)
These are fake. And, no, they're not well-made. Anyone with a basic handle on CoreImage can reproduce that peep-hole effect in five seconds.Tabbed Finder windows and blue-mail-ish sidebar are predictable/unoriginal/underwhelming.
well sorry to spoil the fun but hasn't anyone noticed that the scrollbars in IE7 are the ones of WinXP with a silver look... this is obviously photoshopped in
I'm guessing this is just windows with a shiny mac skin.
I think I'll call that first screenshot "The Giver" and the 2nd screenshot "The Receiver".Apple = inspired by goatse.
well sorry to spoil the fun but hasn't anyone noticed that the scrollbars in IE7 are the ones of WinXP with a silver look... this is obviously photoshopped inWhat does that prove? If it's running windows APIs natively to run the Windows version of IE 7, then it could very well have the WinXP scrollbars.
Jesus guys... these are complete and untter DUNG!!! How gullible do you have to be to fall for even CRAP fakes like this??! The fact that the BUILD NUMBER of Leopard isn't listed in the info-window is a dead giveaway! This is (wannabe) BETA Software we're talking here, the builds are ALWAYS added during the beta-phase.... gimme a break. And a PEEP-HOLE effect??! Buuuaahahahahahahaaa... yeah, right!! That's SO 80's! You guys forget that Apple actually has TASTE, no??What a waste of time and space. Typical Pavlovian mac-users...
My observations: http://www.edgerunner.co.uk/articles/2006/06/23/leopard-screen-shotsTherealsteve : in recent builds of Mac OS X you click the version number and it cycles through the build and serial numbers
Where did the little toolbar icon go (the white oval button) that is in every finder window in the upper right corner?
You guys are quick to jump the gun saying it's photoshopped. Here are a few reasons why it might just be the real deal:- the IE window doesn't have a shadow on the side because it's not the focus window (ie. it's in the background). Only the frontmost window in OS X has a strong shadow - background windows are more subtle. Thus, it is behaving consistently.- if IE were to run under some software in OS X, then it is likely OSX would go so far as to generate a window for it, but leave the contents of the window up to the app itself to render. Since IE7 does not call common OS X Libraries (it's built for XP/Vista) the scroll bars would be Windows style - NOT Aqua. Thus, it is again behaving consistently.- the unified style of Finder, including the addition of tabs, favorites and the '/' menu have all been previously mentioned in rumors regarding the "total revamping" of Finder.- the CoreImage swirl effect is a transition-in-progress and not a live "peephole". There were previous rumors that Apple were expanding on their cube-transition effect in the UI. Most likely it is switching from either one desktop to another, or one user account to another (if the option to choose your own transition has been added).- the "Windows" icon in the menu bar is in fact the icon for Boot Camp, not Windows (although they are similar, for obvious reasons). It looks like 10.5's secret weapon is going to be a "classic"-esque environment for Windows apps to run side by side in Mac OSX. If this is the case, there's going to be less and less reason to get a Windows (only) PC. Congratulations to whoever made these screen caps. Real or not, they certainly are well researched!
Things that proove this is fake...http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=211375
The rumor is that because of the Apple/Microsoft IP cross licensing deal that was in effect under after the launch of XP, which would give Apple the legal right to implement the full Windows XP API natively in 10.5, Apple might be implementing just such functionality... which would allow IE7 to run essentially "natively" on OS X as though it were running on an XP box. No emulation, no dual boot... simply run the app and it runs just like it's on windows.I think a lot of the commenters here need to do a little research before popping off at the mouth and posting tripe about how this must be fake because MS stopped production of IE for Macs back in 2003. That's totally not the point! The point is that this is IE7b running natively on the XP API as implemented legally in Mac OS 10.5.That aside, I think the switch animation seems a little tacky, but then again, we're not seeing it in motion. It might be very quick, smooth and natural. Who knows.I don't know if this is real or not, but they certainly did a very good job if it's not, and they obviously know a lot more about the possible developments going on at Apple than almost every other person who has commented so far.Kudos either way. :)
Wow, so many people are just jumping to the gun, stating that it's either real or fake as if you will die if you don't choose a side...For those of you who are stating it's fake, how do you know? Have you seen "REAL" screenshots of Leopard? For those of you who are stating it's real, same question...
Not to judge whether it is fake or not, just want to mention a few interesting things to notice: (not 質疑)1. This 'Intel Mac' (Intel Core Duo) is having DDR Ram instead of DDR2 ones.2. The icon in the dock suggests that iCal is to merge with Address Book.3. The date of the above icon is January 14, today's iCal shows July 17.4. There is a little Boot Camp 'icon' on the menu bar. (Even though we don't know whether Apple will keep that icon. Apple said 'Boot Camp' may not be the name of the final release.)5. Really, the two Finder windows in the screenshot titled 'Desktop Switcher' are different from each other. (Pay attention to the tabs.)6. The 'number' on the menu bar was originally '1', but when the 'desktop is switching', the number turns '2'.So, even if they are fake, according to point 5-6, at least, you can see that the 'creator' has put much effort on it.Anyway, I am so excited about Leopard. Start the countdown!
Fake. Reasons:1. DDR ram and not DDR 2 as in intel Macs2. iCalAddressBook icon is hideous.3. Apple doesn't think people are bright enough to have a 2 button trackpad, but they're going to support multiple desktops?!
slac - What do you mean that the ideas for things like the sidebar are unoriginal and underwhelming? Don't you have any concept of a design scheme? It's very bad UI and GUI to have every application window look different from one another, the whole point is unification of window appearances. Sure, it may not be original but it's obviously where the Mac OSX GUI is heading towards so it's *very* well done. Very creative ideas in it, however personally I like the cube flip effect than the peephole peeling away of the desktop. But that's just me, it's still well-done. Kudos to your Photoshop skillz.
I suspect it's legitimate. I wish the screenshot wasn't scaled down, it would helpt to tell.In regards to several complaints:"IE isn't casting a shadow." is too. If a window isn't the front window in OS X, it casts a much smaller shadow, especially on the left and right sides. Check for yourself, then Look more closely at the screenshot. IE's shadows are correct."The dock doesn't change in the Goatse effect."(Yes, I will call it the Goatse effect, come ON) Apple's OS currently DOES have the ability to do multiple desktops, it just takes 3rd party utilities to give you some way of playing around with it. Under all of the apps that let you do that, the dock DOES go along with the visual effect, but it has to show the same thing on every desktop. It's more consistent to end users ('the dock is the dock, no matter what screen you're on') if the dock doesn't change. It would be HARDER to photoshop that screenshot than to have the dock warp too."IE NOT 4 MAC WHAT" / "Y APPLE MAEK WINDOWS PROGS RUN IN OSX" <-- all the people posting this missed the whole Boot Camp thing, and have never heard of Wine over on Linux. In fact, Wine IS available for OS X (google Darwine), but not quite functional yet. Apple might have picked up Darwine's work, or developed their own. And Wine DOES have the ability to use an existing windows installation instead of it's own homegrown systems, so that checks out too.So it's all feasible. Could the shot still be fake? yup. But it's VERY well done if it is.
I AM GOING TO SAY IT'S REAL. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH A BETA CODEWEAVERS (WINE) RELEASE AND IT RUNS IE6 RIGHT FROM OSX. NOTHING IN HERE IS IMPOSSIBLE. HOPE I AM RIGHT.AS FARS SAFARI WORKING FINE AS A BROWSER.... IT WORKS GREAT FOR 99% OF THE SITES BUT NOT WELL ON ONLINE APPLICATIONS LIKE QUICKBOOKS TEMPO. MACS ARE GOING TO NEED IE7... LIKE IT OR NOT.
no ... it wouldn't say 10.5.0 if it were real.... if you install tiger from scratch it says 10.4 and nothing else...:)
Since Leopard is going to have new backgrounds, why isn't that being displayed? As the saying goes, "shame on me, shame on you, but shame on me, shame on me twice...shame on you." - Steve Bosell
I will give you $100 for a copy!
Interesting:The guy's screen name is "Trinity Rubicon"---Trinity and Rubicon were the codenames for the infamous Cube!js
1. DDR ram and not DDR 2 as in intel MacsGOOD POINT?
CAN WE GET SOME MORE PICTURES PLEASE?
Remember the sign:"Windows is the next classic"http://daringfireball.net/2006/04/windows_the_new_classicandhttp://www.gavinshearer.com/weblog/archives/2006/01/prediction_xp_i.htmlGuys this is no fake...
I thought that MacOSX 10.5's look will be much better than 10.4, although it looks quite the same in the photos. If it was real, then I am disappointed. I'm expecting great graphics from Apple. Although it is the programs that really count. :)
Memory is incorrect. The memory on the Macbook Pro is DDR2.That would suggest photoshop.
xp doesn't use high-res icons though, yet the one in the dock for ie7 is. If it is supposed to be running a windows version of internet explorer, wouldn't it also be using the windows icon for it?
Fake. Screen shot two where the transition occurs ... why has the poster forgotten to begin to warp the Dock while remebring to warp the hard drive icons. Sorry, the dock either goes away or gets warped with the desktop too. Both screen shots. The hard drive names. There is no way Steve will allow the word "WINDOWS" in all caps while Macintosh HD remain upper-lower case. For the *average* user this highlight Windows (regardless of lessened legibility of all caps) while diminishing the importance of the OSX drive. No way that'll happen. Both screen shots. The merged iCal/Address book. The calendar function is a more important daily tool than the address book so if it's merged it'll focus on a calendar-like icon, not a generic tabbed book icon (usability is my job).Screen one. If the 1 and 2 indicate user accounts to switch to, then it's another major UI gaff. It would have names there, not just numbers. No way again.Admitedly, a good amount of work and some consistent thought went into this (tabbed windows and bookmark like tabs in the Finder window), but no dice in my mind.
He forgot to add a shadow at the right of the IE7 window
Additionally. Look at the About This Macintosh box. Notice the Windows entry at bottom? It's clearly using a different typeface then the regular entries and the word "Windows" isn't lined up to the right correctly. That part is definitely Photoshop.
Geeez---If the guy is so good at getting many of the rumored items included-don't you think he would catch the naming of the memory in the About this Mac window. Maybe in 10.5 they just change how it is stated, just like in 10.4.6 when you repair permissions verbose is no longer---Apple always strives for simpler-less clutter. The Raven King-the 1 and 2 are not users-they are different OS numbers-Lokely we will see 1, 2 and 3 including linux

This is Indeed a photoshop image. I work as a retoucher for a living and have spotted a few tell tail signs.1/ Its not a straight screenshot- the image is not flattened- there is only a layer 0- normal screengrabs just have the locked Background image.2/ the blue desktop background is very slightly transparent. you can see the photoshop grid through the blue desktop & 1 2 "app switcher thing" if you flatten it you will see the grid dissapear.
I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but I apologize for repetition if it's already been called to attention:The date on the address book says January 14th. The day in the upper right corner says Wednesday. January 14th of 2006 was a Saturday.I hope this is real, but it seems to have a few things going against it.
IN RESPONSE TO:The date on the address book says January 14th. The day in the upper right corner says Wednesday. January 14th of 2006 was a Saturday.--This is true... however, notice that the application is closed. When iCal is closed it shows a date of July 17th which is when it was released. Maybe Jan 14th will be the release date in 2007... although that is a Sunday which seems unlikely.
IN RESPONSE TO:This is true... however, notice that the application is closed. When iCal is closed it shows a date of July 17th which is when it was released.Yeah, you're right. I don't use iCal that often, so it's not in my dock. Therefore, I assumed it always displayed the current date. Lack of research on my part.
Have you noticed that the IE7b icon on the dock has a white stripe at the bottom left? isn't this suposed to be semi-transparent, I work as an icon designer and I think this is a screenshot of IE7 icon pasted over the dock(that by the way is using the same icon for Windows Vista). Those people complaining about Window-esque appearence on IE7, let me tell you taht not all the Apps for MAc are Aqua.. just open a Firefox window..The semi-transparent black layer with numbers 1 and 2 looks different from the one for switching between applications."Goatse efect" looks too complicated just for desktop switching, user fast switching is even simpler.wouldn't be more reasonable to merge Mail+Address Book than iCal??Has anybody noticed that there's no home folder on the finder's sidebar? Is that the way a new installation starts?BTW I'm using that skin on my Finder under Tiger hehe.
The Address Book/iCal it's not open, so it would not show the date in which this screenshots were created. Also, today's iCal was introduced on July 17, so the icon has that date when it's not open. This new icon could suggest that Leopard is probably going to be introduced at Macworld San Francisco 2007, but it takes place on January 8-12, 2007... This is really interesting
Fake. Look at the 'B' in "What makes a MacBook".
dude, you do know that iCal display July 17 as default right? And maybe the new merged app display that date as default. Do you use a Mac?
Fake. Here is list of reasons: *The finder looks an awful lot like Pathfinder *That IE is very close to a firefox skin *Why the 1 and 2 for desktop switching, linux desktops have been providing outlines of the other desktop for years, couldn't apple have a small view of the desktop *The desktop switching looks like some cheap window's movie maker effect, or even a PHOTOSHOP FILTER, why not the stylish cube used in user switching? *The dock could be easily a cutout, and a new layer, notice the desktop is a simple color/gradient, not an image
Putting a quarter in the machine to play some Devil's Advocate.TheRealSteve: You guys forget that Apple actually has TASTE, no??Steve, allow me to introduce you to Mail.app, circa 10.4.Rybo: Since Leopard is going to have new backgrounds, why isn't that being displayed?True, because the first thing you work on in beta OS releases is the default background that will ship with it. ; )Christopher: Fake. Look at the 'B' in "What makes a MacBook".So IE under Windows renders text poorly. This comes as a surprise?
Ken SP ... The Raven King-the 1 and 2 are not users-they are different OS numbers-Lokely we will see 1, 2 and 3 including linux. It doesn't matter if they're user account names or OSes or something else. From a UI point of view numbers are foolish because then you have to remember what OS = what number. They'd have names like OSX and XP and Linux etc to make an understandable UI.And regardless, the Windows line in the About This Mac box is clearly Photoshopped. That's the kicker. It's faked.
This is most likely real. Simply, if Apple wanted to implement virtualization, they would do it exactly as they did with Classic. The nice thing about Windows is that the app have their menubar in the window so that Apple doesn't have to change the main menubar at all (like they did for OS9).My bet is that this is real. I hope that it doesn't kill native OSX development. I doubt that it will because most people won't want to pay for Windows on their computer... with Classic, it came with the Mac. That's a big enough disincentive.
Guys... I think this is a fake, personally, but if you're going to slam it please try to keep it in context. You can't complain about ugly effects because it's a beta (that covers the incorrect transparency in IE and glitches in the effect itself, as well for the usage of the effect itself). You can't complain about things that are already configurable in the mac: The case on the hard drive, the existence of a "home" shortcut in the finders windows, etc.You can't assume something obviously incorrect (the number in the menu bar is supposed to be the desktop number, not the user or the OS used) and then use that as an argument. You can't complain about icons for new applications in a beta application, as they could change a lot until finished (the icon for the addrescal thingy, for example). You can't complain about things looking differently from current versions because, duh, it's a new version (the style for the 'switch desktop' overlay, for example)You can, though, complain about things obviously looking strange, like the way the "Windows" font looks differently antialiased from the rest of the lines in the OSX's Info window (this would be driven by Quartz's native antialias engines). The mistake in the DDR memory is also kind of jarring.I seem to remember SDK kits are named in camelCase, so WindowsKit has a different naming convention. I could be wrong about this, though. There is also an icon in the menu bar for the battery. I'm not sure what the native resolution of this screenshot should've been but I'm not sure any Apple laptop can handle what this screenshot's supposed to show (the solid-color background would help if this was the case, as it could be a screenshot stretched to fit more for the fake). As for the IE7 for windows screenshot I find it strange that the some of the window widgets are native (the top of the window, the toolbar) but the rest are windows-like (the resize widget, the scrollbar).I also find it jarring to see a "/" button in the finder windows, but that could be argued as "work in progress for a "home" button, which could explain the deal with the home shortcut missing. It could also be a "path" button, which I think would be too geeky for apple to include as default but, again, this could be a configured machine. Notice the lack of buttons in the finder windows. This would not be a "fresh out of the box" installation.I don't like the fact that the WINDOWS disk (and it could be named like that, like any disk) has the same icon as the normal Mac disk. The desktop change effect not affecting the menubar and the dock could be a design decision. I would have included the disks as well, while at it (if this wasn't a fake. If it is it explains some things)For the guy that said to look at the "B" in MacBook. I can't see what's wrong with it. Looks bad as it would look in a Windows IE window, and the capitalization is correct according to Apple. To me, the most jarring thing is that fullscreen effects can't be screenshot, as far as I know. I may be wrong but in the same way you can't take a screenshot of user-switching you couldn't take a screenshot of the desktop changing (probably not true, as user switching changes user contexts and desktop switching doesn't)Ah, and for the guy that retouches for a living: You, my friend, haven't got a clue what you're talking about.
Neema: Most people DON'T pay for Windows already. What would be different?
I'm just thinking aloud. 1. If Leopard supports running Windows applications natively, why would Microsoft and Adobe write applications for Mac OS? They would concentrate on writing applications for Windows platform to lower cost.2. Consequently more and more companies will do the same and there will be less and less software for Mac. If this really happens, is that a good or bad for Mac? What's available on Windows will be available on Mac . I'm too lazy to see past that. Can anyone enlighten me?
To correct myself: more and more software will be written on Windows but they can still be used on Mac.
for the dock not changing:i truely think that the dock should not change when you switch desktops. if it did, how could you possibly bring certain windows to another desktop without clicking more than a few times(doesn't save much time productivity wise)in this way, it seems that you switch desktops, then call an application (or a minimized window) to view, and then it will stay on that desktop. i think the dock shouldn't change. and if this is real, i'm glad apple went that route. so don't say it's fake just because the dock doesn't change. as far as the new Aqua background, this is probably still a (relatively) early release, maybe no one's made the new background yet?i really hope this is real, this will make me go out and buy an iMac for sure. oh, and for the ram problem... maybe the macbook and the imac use different ram?or is that processor only available on the macbooks? i don't really know.
I wonder where the main menu of Internet Explorer is.Seems hard to believe It's merged into the Apple Menu bar.
Agree with Bizitmap, this is feasible and is what I've been counting on. I don't want a spyware, virus infested OS on my Mac. So, I'll just whine awhile longer, awaiting a WINE, Windows not an emulator, interface and run needed Windows apps sans Windows - thank you
Guys, its a FAKE. It's XP SP2 running new IE 7 Beta 2, with OneCare perpetual beta.Look at Mac OS X about info window and top menubar. And Ofcourse, it uses OS X's skin & theme.
The switch animation looks like it should have two hands pulling it open.
I am convinced that these images are real, but one thing bothers me: if they were real, apple would have sued the person releasing these images just like they did for the reports of the "asteroid" product.
eduo: good points.about WINDOWS icon. It is already like that with BootCamp: same icon for Macintosh HD and Windowsabout IE7 windows with both win and mac widgets. Could not be a Mac window with Windows (nice name for your OS, Bill) running IE7 maximized? This means something like Parallels native, but the problem is the IE icon in the dock. Btw, something like Parallels in 10.5 is expected, I just hope to have full 3d graphics (which is not possible with Parallels).
hmm doesnt apple boast about viruses not being able to run on macs? dont you think apple isnt stupid enough to not only throw this comment in their face but to also implement API's that allow execution of viruses?Technicly viruses will be able to access content if this is true because the emulation software would have to provide the ability for software to write to the system FULLSTOP so a virus could download and execute on your computer and edit files because of the filesystem, and while yes the filing structure isn't the same (users vs documents and settings, even though this changes in vista) malware and spyware could still access the virtual registry (as apple would have to implement this) corrupt the virtual drivers and spyware could also work!!!!!!!!!!Viruses will work and will execute, which is one f****** good reason why leapord will NOT include emulation or windows API's except in a separate environment (unless the windows files are forced to execute in a virtual filesystem that is seperate from the main system..... hmmmmmminteresting....
Sorry guys I have to lift the secret! If you take zoom in to the system info you can see, that the "Windows" text isn't in the correct os X type smoothing ...look at this:http://www.headtag.de/downloads/fake.jpg
"The Raven King said...Both screen shots. The hard drive names. There is no way Steve will allow the word "WINDOWS" in all caps while Macintosh HD remain upper-lower case. For the *average* user this highlight Windows (regardless of lessened legibility of all caps) while diminishing the importance of the OS"Not True. MacOS has Read-Write access with FAT32, but only Read-Only access with NTFS. As Windows has to run on one of those two file systems, it would be preferable to use FAT32. However, FAT32 does not support lower cases in it's label. This would mean that having WINDOWS only re-enforces the fact that this is not a scam (or that Trinity Rubricon did his homework well). Even if 10.5 is able to Write to NTFS, I think that too has the capitalization problem.. Not sure this time, but worth a check.
I think this is no fake. Even if it is, we can expect leopard to feature exactly the same emulation as shown here. Here my thoughts about BootCamp and some other things in the screenshots:The first thing i thought about BootCamp was that it could really kill OS X. Imagine a switcher who has a copy of ms office for windows: I'm shure he would not get a copy for Mac too. So he would prefer using his old windows version. but if you have to reboot everytime you open a f*****g word document the day will come you would not boot into OS X anymore. if you have more old windows apps you would make the switch back even earlier. remember: a lot of linux users went back to windows because they are used to the os and already own the apps. the only way to do it in a way that makes sense for Apple is an emulation like the classic environment. Please think of the name "BootCamp": a Camp is something where you stay temporarily, not forever. so maybe even the name says that (re-)booting (like in the current beta available for download) is just a temporarily thing...The next thing is the home-folder: if i would make screenshots of a beta from apple i would remove it because the home folder is not labeled "home" but "myName". Apple knows the names of any beta testers because they all are members of developer connection for shure!!! The windows disk: it is labeled in uppercase because this is fat32 formattet. just try to format a usb stick with fat32. you cannot rename it to get lowercase because this is just impossible with fat32!!! Do you think that somebody faking those screenshots would really think about this small detail? i don´t. NTFS supports labels in uppercase and lowercase, even mixed (THAnK yOU microSOFT)The B in MacBook just looks as awful as windows does. this is just one more point for the assumption that these shots are real.IE: This is clearly a shot of IE7 beta, on windows or mac, i don´t know. IE 7 has no menubar! This is fact an not a mistake of the supposed photoshopper. Even Vista beta has no menubar anymore! The transparency of the IE icon looks really strange, but remember: this is a beta. Maybe this release has some trouble with transparence in .ico files... is this really a high res icon? maybe this is the icon from vista? does the installer come separately for vista and XP or is it combined? maybe there are two icons in IE7 beta, the one for XP (low res) and another one for vista (high res)? The numbers are not different Operating Systems or different users but different desktops (of the same user). So numbers are absolutely ok. The effect has to be different from user switching because then the user clearly can see the difference. Naming convention: camelCase is not the case: WebKit is named "WebKit" and not "webKit"... so it is correct in the shots: "CoreWindows" and not "coreWindows"...Two questions: what about the windows line in the about dialog? and why is the dock stay in place but not the drive symbols? i think the drive symbols should stay in place two, exactly like the dock.I´m seriously not going to talk about desktop backgrounds... ;-)
eduo: the wholes in the B look more oval like in the screenshot than they do viewing it in safari or firefox (more circle like).as for why i might think this is a fake...1.the dock height seems to be altered, i know this is a new version of os x but it seems much too squished for me. look at the tip of the mail icon and how much breathing room it has from the edge of the dock and then take a look at your own mail + dock. the black border also seems a bit faded (also faded at the vertical line near the trash separating apps and docs)2.look at the third column divider in the finder window..notice the 1px gap from the top? the other two column dividers are flush with the "uno style" finder window.3.the file, edit, view, etc menus from ie7 will be incorporated in the apple menu bar? if not..where are they?the new switch desktops transparent black overlay thingy does sort of follow application switcher - hover over an app and youll see it gets a white border...i like the new version much better..its a lot darker which matches the darkness of dashboard/expose (although dashboard is a lot lighter than expose (which bothers me..they should all be the same).to answer the resolution question - the picture is 1024x640, and if you open in photoshop, hit constrain proportions, and type in 1440, it will spit out 900 (reso for 15") and if you type in 1680, it will spit out 1050 (reso for 17"). all of these "bugs" were seeing might just be UI elements gone bad during beta testing...it could be real, but it could also be a really good photoshop
the file, edit, view, etc menus are removed from ie 7 beta on windows xp. the same menus are removed from windows vista also (not only from ie but from explorer also). i don´t know why, but microsoft just dropped it. so this is just consistent in these screenshots. as i installed IE7 beta on xp i could not believe that they dropped it but it is REALLY TRUE!!! Note the "Page" and "Tools" buttons at the right side of the ie window: in these menus you can find all the options from the old menu bar. IE 7 in these screenshots does EXACTLY look like it does on XP (except the mac-like window border and top bar wich would be consistent in a classic style emulation).
If they are true it looks like Apple is implementing it's own version of seamless windows like they have in Citrix. Talking about which: how about OsX terminal server...
When I saw screenshot 2, I mounted my computer.
am i the only person that's noticed that the dock looks kinda fk'd up in these screenshots? the spacing is completely off.. that leads me to believe that these are fabrication..also, correct me if i'm wrong, but windows volumes use drive letter names (like "C:\") instead of actual names..
its fake. "windows" word in "About This Mac" is blackandwhite, rest of the words are colorizedscreen @ http://blog.fotogenia.info/?p=370
It is quite a good fake, but a fake nonetheless here's why:1. There does not seem to be the same highlights and sharply defined edge on the dock which leads me to believe it has been cropped or recreated using pasted icons which brings me to point 22. Currently my dock icons are the same size as the picture opened in preview - if I move it under the dock they all line up pretty well apart from Safari and System icons which are considerably larger than their real life counterparts.3. If this screen shot was taken using a third party grab application, why is it's icon not shown as active in the dock? (Option+Shift+3 would answer this - cursor is not shown btw)4. I have set my background to supposedly the same as the screen shot but it is not the same hue exactly which would imply that photoshop has applied a different colour profile to the work.5. On the bottom of the Finder window, why is there a full stop . at the end of _GB available? Somebody type it and place it there perhaps? It certainly does not appear on my Finder window!5. The most glaringly obvious - Where is the volume icon in the top right? You're telling me that a beta would come with support for airport yet omit simple volume control? Come on now.
If this was a captured video I could start to believe it, but screenshots are not prove enough at all.
None of the last posters comments make any sense. I'll take them one at a time.1. The new dock could be a change in Leopard. Unless he is running it (which he isn't) he couldn't know what it would be like without seeing it.2. Maybe they aren't aligned?3. You DONT need a third party shot taker. command+shift+3.4. Not sure about this one.5. Could be a change in Leopard (see 1).6 (his second 5). The volume can be taken off by simply un-checking the box in the System Prefs>Sound. Or command drag it off.As for me I don't know if it is real. Could go either way on this one.
In reply to shapazio:Ok, you spotted my deliberate mistake with the dual 5 but then I never implied that my post was anything special unlike Mr Rubicon... :)I was going to comment about the missing cursor hence the duplication until I tested and realised it is ommitted from Command+Shift+3 grabs (Yes I did know this existed)As for number 2 - it wasn't the alignment I was questioning, merely the overall size of the icon - I am sure Apple would keep this consistant even if they were to change the colours like they did with iTunes. The full stop is the kicker for me, why would they need to add this? Over complicates the GUI does it not?
LOL. Whatever. What a waste of time . FAKE!
This is fake. Notice on the About This Mac window, it says 1 GB DDR SDRAM.I checked and all Intel Mac's use DDR2 Ram.
Fake:- The image is encoded with a transparency layer. Regular screenshots do not.Besides the fact, you don't need multiple desktops with Expose.
so, if the july 17th ical date was the date of it's birthday, does that mean that jan 14th is the release date for leopard?
Sure fake. He forgot to center-align the dock in this one:http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img03.pngJust compare with the one he posted above:http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img03.0.png
the dock size is customizable. that image you're opening in preview is 1024x640...it shouldn't necessarily be the same size as your own dock because the dock icons scale in size as well...however, when i moved it behind my dock it was more or less what you described..i dont really understand how/why. seems like his dock is quite big (on 1680x1050).in the peephole image, what is that window at the bottom of the hole in the new desktop? what does that look like? nobody's talked about it?
You mean that whitish one that you could only see part of the title bar?My guess is that its one of those windows apps that draw their own window title bar, but I may be wrong.
Just wondering about the screenshots. Grab is not running, so he must have used the old command-shift-3. Funny how no icons are appearing on the desktop named picture 1 etc. Perhaps he is copying the files after a screenshot to a new location, or maybe an oversight in photoshop.
I said "Thank you Livequartz";-)
For what it's worth, the "pill" shaped button in the upper right-hand corner of the Finder window is missing.
Photoshopped. In the second desktop you can see the corner of a second application, however no such icon appears in the dock. Context has been switched to desktop 2, as indicated by the tray numbers, just in case the dock also has desktop-context. There also exists no unusual tray icon to indicate a non-dock-icon program. The rhombus may indicate multi-desktop is enabled.Steven
requiem_netau: The corner of that "application" is actually the corner of the Google Search widget that is included with Dashboard. Apple added that in 10.4.4 or something like that.I guess its supposed to mean that widgets can now run outside the dashboard and on the regular desktop.
"Alexander said...I guess its supposed to mean that widgets can now run outside the dashboard and on the regular desktop."You can Already Do that. Just drag one of the widget icons from the selection bar and press F12 (or whatever your dashboard shortcut is) while still dragging it. It isn't an active widget, but it's still there. Maybe 10.5 will activate them?Oh and to all posters: Please don't post your opinions if they have already been posted.. Im sick of reading "FAKE!! IT SHULD BE DDR2 NOT DDR RAM!!! HAHA YOUR ALL WRONG" again and again. I know there are over one hunded posts, and more have probably been aded as I write this, but these comments are worth reading.
While I too think there are more than likely fake I did have one thought when it comes the the 'DDR' vs. 'DDR2' that could explain away that issue.Who knows what hardware those screenshots were taken on?If we want to believe these screen shots are real then they could have come from only one place... Apple period end of sentence. Leopard has NOT been seeded to ANYONE (outside of Apple) yet and if Apple is anything like they used to be, quite a number of people on the Apple Campus proper don't even have access to it yet.So back to DDR vs. DDR2 - If its now safe to assume that only the 'Apple elite' (code monkeys QA folks and the like) have access to it then would it really be a stretch to think it could be running on some never release Apple hardware or even dare I say it some NON APPLE HARDWARE...A simple search on the net will find people running (with some success) OS X 10.4 on ALL KINDS of random Intel based systems.... Dells, Gateways, etc, etc, etc.. Heck if random hackers on the net can do it then I'm quite sure the people who are responsible for writing the OS can too...
Has anywone tried changing in the address the name of the pic for leopard_img03.png ?like this:http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img03.pngI discovered by accident, but that should explain the "/'" menu...
Fact of the matter, as someone already stated, that these PNG images should have been edited inside Adobe Photoshop. Opening them with Photoshop reveals that they are unflattened files containing a 'Layer 0' instead of a locked 'Background' layer. This would suggest atleast that some work has been made on a legit screenshot image. (First thing one does during such a step is unlocking the default Background layer resulting in Layer 0.)This alone would prove that whatever the origin of these pictures is, they underwent some editing inside Photoshop - if that's a definition for fake, I'm game.Tabs of the "tabbed Finder windows" could have been taken from Safari, with no great effort in Photoshop - a very narrow darker line below each "tabs" (Music and Caches on the first image) would be an indirect proof for that, too.The merger of iCal and Address Book into a single app is nothing short of surprising if holds true - but differences between "dates" (no real date in the Finder visible) on the app icon and in the Finder menubar doesn't prove anything. If a fake, I guess this is a rather sophisticated touch from the editor of these pictures, trying to indirectly refer to the supposed release date for Leopard, i.e., January 15, 2007 (January 14 beeing a Sunday).Just to show that others already started to fool around with Leopard fake screenshots back in March (only an April Fool's joke): http://svn01.23i.net/chatkit/trunk/Documentation/Adium.jpgQuite interesting to see the same DDR RAM issue on the 2 of the About This Mac infos, ain't it?So whatever this is, we're stupid enough to have gotten engaged with it - which, of course, should be quite high on the laugh-o-meter of the author of these pictures...
The high resolution of IE's icon isn't indicating that it's a fake. In fact, according to the Windows icon editing application "Microangelo" Windows supported THE EXISTENCE of a Vista 256x256 image since it's 2000 incarnation, versions prior to Vista just didn't make use of it.Well, since IE7 has been primarily developed for Vista, why shouldn't a high-res icon be included since every OS that runs IE7 (which would be XP and Vista) supports it's existence?

Some image facts:1. png format, mac creates a png from a screen grab.2. image dates:Creation Date 2006-06-26T10:29:10+01:00Modification Date 2006-06-26T10:29:10+01:003. Image size 1024x640 - grabbed from a 13" widescreen MacBook4. The image file has no EXIF or meta data exported with it...
>My friend Sean calls this the>"Goatse Switcher" animation.I guess other people do too:Leopard Goatse (work-safe)
That's fake guys, IE 7 will not run in mac os x. Even if it does, that's not how it would look running in x. Photoshop for sure. See that spin/spiral effect for user switiching. It's all photoshop.Sorry to wreck your phun
Did anyone else notice that in the finder window on the left bar the "WINDOWS" disk picture is slightly bigger than the mac drive picture right above it?
... hum ... to easy to made ...http://endoloris.blogspot.comI have already doing better !
Made with Core image fun house and quartz....False
maybe nobody here has noticed but if you insert a windows disk in a mac, the volume label is diplayed in all capitals. it's just behaving in the normal way.i reckon it's real.
Likely fake... But pretty cool if real. A recent video also showed the different interface for finder (Including tabs). I find it unlikely that Apple will support win apps natively. Boot Camp allows for booting up ONLY.For those people who still don't get it: Microsoft DID stop supporting IE For mac - that is clearly the WINDOWS version.
I dunno, maybe this is stupid.. but what about the TIME in the top right corner... Its the same in both pics. Obviously photoshoped the first pic, then opened it in core image app and added the effect. RIGHT?
the raven king said:Both screen shots. The hard drive names. There is no way Steve will allow the word "WINDOWS" in all caps while Macintosh HD remain upper-lower case. For the *average* user this highlight Windows (regardless of lessened legibility of all caps) while diminishing the importance of the OSX drive. No way that'll happen.A Duh it will be in caps because the partition is in FAT32 format it does that right now with Boot Camp as well the partition's name is in caps
Yesterday, I spoke to a representative from Apple with questions about running Parallels and Windows XP on OS X. He said I may want to hold off and wait to see what's annouced at WWDC2006 because the next version of OS X will likely have "some sort of Windows emulation built-in".This screenshot may be legit ;-)
Open the image in Photoshop. Drag a vertical guide to the right edge of the bold text in the About this Mac window. (The text that says, "Processor," "Memory," "Startup Disk," and "Windows.") The first three lines are clearly right justified but the last line "Windows" is off by a few pixels. If this window was designed in Interface Builder, the text would have automatically lined up correctly. This proves that that window was made/modified in something other than Interface Builder which Apple would have used. Good luck countering this one. ;-)
These images are obviously fake- look in the top right-hand corner on the 2nd and 3rd images, the date and icons are in different places, even the Ms on am and pm change. http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img01.png Image 1http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img01.0.png Image 1ahttp://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img02.png Image 2http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img03.png Image 3http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img03.0.png Image 3a
If this is real, it's pretty damn spiffy looking. It would mean that my iMac was suddenly more than a brightly coloured pile of plastic, for one thing...
Hehe cool post, everyone checkout my blog (link below) for some more mac leopard screen shots :) Mac Leopard Screen Shots
if anyone actually believes this your pretty dumb... Apple Announced when releasing the Boot Camp Public Beta that it will not provide support to Microsoft Windows. So I think its likly that Boot Camp will only Be Used to boot windows nativly not boot oSX and WIndows ant the same time!Obviously A Photoshop!
Uw online verzekeringsmakelaar Eerst Europa Doelstellingen: De Ci2i Verzekering (Ci2i) zal het nummer een gebrandmerkte pan Europese commoditized online verzekeringsmakelaar door 2010 zijn.
FAKEY: on the "about this mac" window, the 'Windows' (in bold) text is not perfectly right justified as the above text (memory, start up disk) is.Some nice concepts though.
Hey nice blog. Although its not what I was looking for. I am looking for info on Payday Loans or a Cash Advance so I can buy some Hoodia Diet Pills.. I found your blog very interesting
This is truly an interesting subject. I would like to hear more about it. Keep on the good work! James Spade from http://HealthReviews.org
its a photoshop. there's http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img03.png and http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1221/3225/1600/leopard_img03.0.png If you open both in a tab each, then switch between the two you can see the difference.Image 03.png the dock is not centralised, but 3.0.png, the dock is centralised. Now unless the dock slides back and fore, this shows the image has been altered. The iTunes icon is the old iTunes icon, which proves nothing much other than this isnt a mac with new software. If he had 10.5, surely iTunes 7 would come with it.Apple has shown a preview of 10.5 on it's websitewww.apple.com/macosx/leopard/in the dock there is an icon for Time Machine, which is not in any of the screenshots. Also in the preview shows Spaces, which is the desktop switcher. Why would apple show spaces, then do this peephole desktop switching thing. As for the internet explorer icon, you can make an application, and then use and IE7 icon as that applications icon. The developer pre-release of 10.5 does not include any build numbers in the about mac window. But the "Windows" bit does look a bit out of place. It might just be a bug of the Beta. As for the comments on Layers with photoshop, i have no clue. I rarely use photoshop. The gap in the third column on the finder window is a bit of a bad sign, though this could just be a bug in a beta OS. You cant say that its fake because somethings don't line up, as this is only Beta. It still has some flaws. The thing that tells me it is fake, is the 03.png and 3.0.png change. It shows it has been edited. Wether it is an edited image of a real screenshot though, that is unknown.
Here are some great articles on x box live wireless adapter

although its fake, and thats obvious itunes 6 and running windows, in system profile, IE 7 boot camp in the menu bar, and there was a confes aswell
Okay guys I cannot help but feel like I must point this out...People say that this cannot be real because there is no shadow witht the IE7 logo but the shadow is physically part of the actual logos with the other apps. Since the IE7 was made for Windows there wouldn't be an actuall shadow as part of that logo.As far as the build number goes... Who says this is simply a finished version? For all we know an Apple associate leaked these screen shots!
I simply just can't wait till it commes out...Meanwhile ill just have to injoy myself with thishttp://www.c-h-a-o-s.com/
Those screenshots are all fake. The dock looks totally different in Leopard and there is a semi-transparent menu-bar. Just look here- http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/There is even a video demonstration of Leopard there. It's very cool!~Jordan
Can anyone tell me how you make a desktop screenshot on a mac??I don't know what to do :(
This comment has been removed by the author.
@spook: for desktop screenshot try any of the two:-- Shift+Apple+3 (this saves the pic on your desktop)-- Shift+Ctrl+Apple+3 (this saves it in your clipboard, so open preview and select "New from Clipboard")[try "4" instead "3" for a specific region of the screen you want to capture]
fake, Mac 10.5 doesn't look like that, the dock is wrong, the top bar is wrong. if you want to see the real thing www.apple.comwhy do people do this fake stuff, their not cool
yeah, it's totally fake. Leopard looks nothing like that. I actually use it.
Definitely fake. Don't pay attention to any windows. Just look at the dock itself. The separator which is separating the trash can as well as IE7 is whitish while in actual fact, it should be a black line regardless of the background color.Next, the icons are too large. Look at iMovie HD for instance. The tip of the icon on the top is so close to the edge of the dock while in actual fact, they should be spaced neatly in the center. You can download a dock like this from stardock.com. I do have a windows vista computer as well as a Macintosh laptop. I have been using Macs since Cheetah came out and yea, I decided to download the stardock to put it on my windows vista laptop so that I can fake a mac for the bottom.
